Antarctic Air Day at Christchurch.

Couldn't have asked for a grottier day for the Antarctic Air Day at Christchurch International Airport as part of the Antarctic Season Opening Festival.
That's the Novotel 200 room, 4.5 star, accommodation building in the background and the Control Tower to the right.
The biggest attraction was the Boeing C-17A Globemaster III 08-8199 (c/n 50222).
The RNZAF Lockheed C-130H Hercules NZ7002 (c/n 4053) above - before the masses descended, and below - masses about to ascend.
The good old De Havilland DHC-2 Beaver ZK-CKH (c/n 25) marked up as NZ6001 got its share of  people sheltering under the wing.
The RNZAF Beechcraft B200 Super King Air NZ7122 (c/n BB-1944) did not seem to get much attention from the hardy punters.
This spent a few weeks on our civil register as ZK-DHP3 before joining the Military ranks.
Not partaking of the occasion - and parked outside the public access area - was the Lockheed LC-130H 92-1095 (c/n 382-5405) ' City of Cohoes'.

**************
Oh the difference a day makes.
Two shots from yesterdays Friday the 6th's visitation.
Air Chathams General Dynamics Allison Convair 440/580 ZK-CIF2 (c/n 381) at rest with Singapore Airlines Boeing 777-212 (ER) 9V-SVE (c/n 30870) on push back and with LC-130 92-1095 beyond.
The Beaver 'NZ6001' had the central apron pretty much to itself.
